Clara, one of the greatest pianists of her time, was the beneficiary of Robert’s wild five days of inspiration, in the fall of 1842, when he penned the first Romantic Piano Quintet. This masterpiece would serve as a model for Brahms, Dvorak and Franck. Part concerto, part chamber work, the piece is at once bold, dramatic, brilliant and expressive.
